Japan, a pioneer of waste recycle country – 2

In the previous A1 article, I have introduced 2 recycle organisations that are profitable ways of recycling or offering free recycle service for PC computers as well as general stuff.

Coming up, I will share another 3 organisations that are also worth your trial of their services.

Let’s dive in.

Second Life donation (セカンドライフ 寄付)

This is a NGO who is willing to collect many of the new or used or even broken items from donors.  For collectable item checking, it can be found from their homepage.  They mentioned that it is not a must for the donor to clean up the donation items before sending them because they will do the cleaning after receiving.

Basically, they don’t have limitations on the items you put into the delivery box for sending.  However, once you received the pre-registered postal label from them for later delivery, you should notify them via email or LINE earlier if you have changes on delivery items and you should clearly mark down all the related changes on the label.

In addition, they have a vaccine sponsorship fee collection.  How much of it should be calculated by the number and the sizes of the box collection.  Last time I sent them the biggest 160 size box which cost 2,600 yen for each one.

That 2,600 yen includes a money sponsor to purchase the vaccines of polio, whooping cough and tetanus, etc. for necessary children all over the world and you will need to settle the payment within 3 days of delivery.

You will have the above related leaflets received when you receive the postal label from them and the monthly contribution report is shown on their homepage as well as has event updates on Instagram.

The procedure is simple, once you register on their website for specific delivery labels requested, they will send you accordingly.  At that time, you should have made a decision on what to donate and how many of them to donate.

After a postal label is received in a week, you can call the delivery hotline service anytime when ready.  Of course, you will not choose a rainy day for a delivery call.  Check the weather forecast, select a day that might not be raining and that will give a hand to the postman as well as the receiver on your donation items handling.  Wasn’t that difficult for you, Right?

Red One Company Ltd

Usually, many garbage collectors are able to provide a one-time free on-site quotation for your recycled items, what we need to do is just to give them an advance on-site visit request call on at least one day or usually a week before the visit.  They will drive a van to your place for items checking and/or for collection straight away.

Nowadays, some companies are able to provide an e-checking service for efficient item quotation. We just need to send them a few pictures of each item, show them the real status of the recycled item such as if there are any broken or scratch marks.  Of course, we also need to provide them with the basic information of the item such as brand name, sizes and item depreciation date, etc.

This company is referred to by a Chinese friend of mine and that was a very competitive recycle collection price if compared with other Japanese recycle companies.

My last recycle item collection price list

Chinese company, Red OneOther Japanese companiesGovernment recycle list
Mattress3000 yen5000 yen400-800 yen
Double door refrigerator5000 yen8000 yen6,149 yen
Handling charges3000 yen3000 yen3000 yen

I chose this company not just because they offered a comparative quote for handling such oversized garbage which I was not capable of handling, but also because their customer service is not bad at all.  Once you give them a confirmation message, they will come and pick up the recyclable item accordingly. What we need to do is just wait for them. That is safe and efficient. Super cool, right?

Government recycle service and arrangement (東京粗大ごみ回収)

This is a very economical platform for garbage recycle handling in Japan.  However, per my last experience, there is super big garbage that I could not handle and has to be handled by 2 big guys; if it wasn’t in that case, this should be the best way that I never hesitate to recommend anyone.

Registration procedure:

First of all, you have to check out the correct name in Japanese for the recyclable item and the sizes include height and width.  Then, you can check the recycle cost either from their website homepage or, call the hotline center directly for quotation as well as to register for the item collection date.  The officer will give you a full instructions after the price quote and show you where and how to buy the related recycle label and where to put your garbage, etc.

After confirming details with her, what you need to do is to go buy a label, write down the registration code and the collection date on it, and stick it well on the registered garbage.

Then, move the registered garbage to the collection point that may be downstairs, or, far away from your walking distance, I suggest checking out the location first before registration.

On the registered garbage collection day early in the morning, they will have staff to come up and collect your garbage accordingly, also, you will leave your contact phone number for their contact in case.

Besides moving the garbage(s) to the collection point, isn’t that an economical and simple way of recycling for you?
